| The
Aloni Villas are a 3 minute drive from Agia Efimia. This pretty village
has, over the past few years, developed from a sleepy backwater into the
colourful small port it has become today. However the village has lost none
of its charm and remains unspoilt and tranquil with an authentically Greek
atmosphere. It is at the northern end of the Sami Bay and looks across the
sea to Ithaca. There are numerous small white pebble coves and beaches surrounding
Agia Efimia with clear crystal waters, which makes for good snorkelling.
For those interested there is a professional diving school based in the
village, and also small boats available for hire. |
|
The
village itself has a number of tavernas and café bars, mostly lined
along the quayside where numerous yachts are moored which helps to create
a tranquil atmosphere. There are also a number of small shops, mini-markets,
village bakery, butcher, post office, pharmacy etc. Agia Efimia is an excellent
base to explore the Island of Kefalonia. With the port of Sami just 8 kilometres
away. From Sami you can hop on a ferry and visit Ithica for the day. Between
Agia Efimia and Sami is the underground lake of Melissani and the Drogarati
cave, which is famed for its stalactites. |
